God and GOP

The following was written by Pastor Jerry Woods of Bear Creek Baptist Church, TN.   I thought this important enough to put on this blog site. Something to ponder about.

“I’m not obligated on the pledge,” Senator Bob Corker replied. “The only thing I’m honoring is the oath I take when I serve when I’m sworn in this January.” Some will not be surprised to know that there are those who did not like his quote.

Please consider the Spiritual Cliff we are going over as a nation will make the Fiscal Cliff  irrelevant. Some are saying that the Republican Party is leaning too much to the Right-Wing Conservatives. That the GOP needs to modify its values to “get along” and “work with the Democrats on the left” who are controlling the Executive Branch and the Senate. Let me respectfully remind all of us that are a group of voters who were “Right-Wing Conservative Christians” prior to the election and as such will remain strong Bible-Believing Right-Wing Conservative Christians most likely until we see Jesus. Those values that we hold dear did not come from a politician nor a political party.

We, as our Founding Fathers, continue to hold to those values which did not originate with changing cultures of mankind or with a vote by the mob. Our values originated with the God of Nature and Nature’s God. They are values and standards that were written into the USA Constitution and have remained so for 236 years. Our Constitution stands next to the Bible in Sacredness to us. Perhaps that is why it has endured the test of time longer than any other national constitution in the world. Our Constitution reflects the wisdom of the Law of God and of Nature’s God. Scholars like Dr. Donald Lutz has described in his book Origins of American Constitutionalism that some 87% of our constitution originated from the Holy Word of God either directly or indirectly. Since those laws and truths do not come from Man, Man cannot break nor even bend those Eternal Truths. (This is also backed up on http://wallbuilders.com/ from original documents David Barton has wrote about.)

Should a man or a nation violate their covenant with God by passing laws contrary to God’s Eternal Righteous Truth, Holy God will deal with that man or nation accordingly. Ezekiel 14: 12 says so- “The word of the Lord came again to me, saying: “Son of man, when a country sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My Hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it. Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.” says the Lord”. Our nation has politicized many of God’s values by allowing man to decide the rightness and wrongness of a value, when in fact God has never amended His Laws nor His Values. Our Supreme Court has ruled it legal in this nation to kill a child an unborn child. God’s Standard glares at us from His Holy Word, “Thou shall not kill (shed innocent blood). The Divine Standard of defining the union between one man and one woman in Genesis 1; 2 has always been defined as marriage by Western Civilization. The word “marriage” has never changed in meaning since the beginning of time.

The Bible teaches that immorality as described in Romans 1 will always invite the wrath of God. Please consider that our Founding Fathers looked to the sacred Word of God for ideas and principles to put into our Constitution. Consider our three Branches of Government are described in Isaiah 33:22 – “For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us.” Tax exemption for the churches did not begin with our Founding Fathers, but they got the idea from Ezra 7:24. Who would have thought about writing into our Constitution that the Leader of our nation should be a natural born citizen except they described the qualification in Deuteronomy 17:15. It is also interesting that a republican form of government is described in Exodus 18:21.

So when we go to church on Sunday and we study these eternal divine truths and many other principles written into the Word of God, those divine eternal truths will never change. God warned all nations about choosing the correct God when He said, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” God says it is is important who is in power: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Paul commanded us in 1 Timothy 2 to pray for our President and all leaders so there can be peace and tranquility in the land so we will be free to share the testimony of the Gospel of Jesus. For Jesus is the one you shall know the Truth and the Truth will set you Free. It was Jesus who went to the Cross to forgive our sins and set us Free from the bondage of sin. Isaiah showed us that Freedom is required to worship God in Isaiah 6. When you walk into the Presence of God there are no boundaries or restrictions. Absolute Freedom is required. Thus, those early Baptists insisted that Our Constitution have a Bill of Rights and they begin with Freedom of Religion.

Biblical truths will never change and Jesus warned us there will be consequences as to how we play “the game”. In Matthew 25:32, Jesus declares that He will gather all nations together and separate the right from the left. To the nations on His right who chose Jesus, He promises “the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world”. And to those on the left have rejected Him, He will say, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire”.
Therefore, we, the Right-Wing Conservative Christians are part of “We The People”. We simply ask all our elected officials to remain true to God’s Word and We Right-Wing Conservative Christians portion of “We The People” will be pleased. And if you have accepted God’s Son, Jesus, for His Gift of Salvation, We Right-Winger Christians who believe Righteousness is to be the rule the land will see you in Heaven ! And after all is said and done, nothing else really matters at that time, does it?”
